Knapweed 100 seeds - FREE POST
« backThis is a widespread plant of rough grassland, hedgebanks, road verges and open woods. Common knapweed or 'hardheads' is an upright perennial plant, thistle-like in appearance but without spines. Dark flowerheads with pink-purple flowers appear on branched stems from June to September and are very attractive to insects including hoverflies, bumble bees and a range of day-flying moths. Butterflies also love it and very few plants will attract more than this one. The leaves are grey-green, lance-shaped and hairy.
Plant it in a summer meadow, grassy bank or flower border in a sunny position, in well-drained fertile soil.
